Experiences on the Trail
The Wildlife Trail is located in the valley head of Hinterglemm and is ideally accessible from Thurnerhof. You will find the large, free car park in Lengau after a drive of about 15 minutes. If you prefer, you can leave your car at the hotel and take the free hiking bus. Once you reach the end of the valley, you can either walk to the Lindlingalm or take the valley train, which is free of charge for Thurnerhof guests. The trail continues to the Osmannalm – the start of the Wildlife Trail. The quiz card is available directly at the hut, with which you can get the popular Wildlife Trail medal after the leisurely hike. You can use it to go in search of clues – exciting information and impressive views await. With a bit of luck, the wild inhabitants of the valley will also make an appearance. Have you already watched in awe marmots, deer, ibexes and eagles in their natural habitat? The circular trail leads about 1.2 kilometres through the Alpine landscape – the exclusive walking time is described as about 20 minutes.

Numerous facts and information about Alpine nature as a habitat await you along the Wildlife Trail. Foxes, squirrels, deer, eagles and many other wild animals feel right at home here. Some interesting and fun facts at a glance:
- Marmots (called manggei in Pinzgau) sleep up to nine months a year!
- Foxes are the only species of dog that can partially extend and retract their claws – just like cats!
- Squirrels have excellent eyesight and can jump 10 times their own body length
- That would be like children being able to jump over 10 metres!
- Eagle owls can live up to 25 years and grow 75 centimetres tall!
