In order to ensure that the 2025 Alpine World Ski Championships run smoothly, a considerable investment of around 18.5 million euros was made in the construction of a new, barrier-free railway station in a collaboration between ÖBB, the province of Salzburg and the municipality of Maishofen. The previous station building was demolished and replaced by a modern waiting area, as announced by the railway company. The platforms are also being renovated, including the installation of lifts and the adjustment of platform heights to enable barrier-free boarding and alighting from trains. In addition, the platforms will be extended for double trains and a modern waiting area will be installed. This will not only meet the needs of ski enthusiasts from all over the world during the two-week event in February 2025, but will also offer long-term benefits and added value to the local community.
