After a hearty breakfast at the Thurnerhof, it's off into the mountains! Breathing fresh air, exercise and nature are good for the body and soul. You can easily reach the starting points for a wide variety of tours with the various cable cars (free of charge with the JOKER CARD). Children's/family hiking - choosing the perfect route
Choosing the ideal route starts with the requirements of the group. Whether you want to explore the mountains on your own, are out and about with children or are a fit alpinist looking for a special challenge - Saalbach is a true Eldorado for mountain fans with over 400 km of hiking trails. In addition to the impressive long-distance hikes, there are various play facilities on the mountain and in the valley especially for families, including Montelino's adventure trail, the Kodok mountain, the fairytale forest and much more.
Hiking routes in Saalbach
Set off directly from the Thurnerhof into the endless hiking offer. The various routes take you leisurely through mountains and valleys, on secluded paths through ancient forests and challenging routes up to striking peaks. There are over 50 huts for hikers to stop off at - here you can indulge in regional delicacies according to every trick in the book.

An overview of the categories:
- Green: Valley paths, easy hikes, suitable for beginners and families
- Blue: Moderately difficult hikes with moderate inclines, requires some experience and basic fitness, but can also be really fun for children
- Red: More challenging routes with steep climbs and uneven terrain; experience, sure-footedness and good physical condition required
- Black: Difficult and demanding routes that often cross alpine terrain; some of them lead through open terrain. These hikes require alpine experience, good orientation skills and excellent physical fitness as well as surefootedness and a head for heights.

Hiking in the mountains - what else you should look out for
When hiking in the mountains, you should always keep an eye on the weather. Rain and sun protection, sufficient provisions and drinking water should always be in your rucksack. Plan your routes based on the weather forecast and be sure to check the time. Bear in mind that you will also need your strength for the descent and may have to rely on the last cable car ride down.
Back at the hotel, you can enjoy pure relaxation on the cozy sunbathing lawn around the Thurnerhof, a delicious dinner, the spacious wellness area and the popular play facilities for the children for a great end to the day.
